I. From the Perspective of the Product Itself

(I) Specification Parameters
  1. Conductor Parameters

The conductor of the PVC insulated THW cable is made of 7 strands of pure Copper Wire. There are differences in conductor parameters among different AWG specifications. For the 14 AWG conductor, each copper wire has a diameter of about 0.51mm, and after 7 strands are stranded, the overall conductor diameter is about 1.63mm with a cross-sectional area of about 2.08mm²; for the 12 AWG conductor, each copper wire has a diameter of about 0.64mm, and after stranding, the overall diameter is about 2.05mm with a cross-sectional area of about 3.31mm²; for the 10 AWG conductor, each copper wire has a diameter of about 0.81mm, and after stranding, the overall diameter is about 2.59mm with a cross-sectional area of about 5.26mm²; for the 8 AWG conductor, each copper wire has a diameter of about 1.02mm, and after stranding, the overall diameter is about 3.26mm with a cross-sectional area of about 8.37mm².
The purity of the Pure Copper Conductor is ≥99.9%, which makes its conductivity very excellent. At 20°C, the DC resistance of the 14 AWG conductor does not exceed 8.21Ω/km, the 12 AWG does not exceed 5.18Ω/km, the 10 AWG does not exceed 3.28Ω/km, and the 8 AWG does not exceed 2.06Ω/km. The low resistance can effectively reduce energy loss during current transmission and ensure the efficiency of power transmission.
The mechanical properties of the conductor are also excellent. The breaking force of 14 AWG is not less than 1.8kN, 12 AWG is not less than 2.9kN, 10 AWG is not less than 4.6kN, and 8 AWG is not less than 7.3kN. Sufficient breaking force ensures that the conductor can withstand a certain tensile force during installation and use and is not easy to break.
  1. Insulation Layer Parameters

The insulation layer is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) material, which complies with the THW standard (moisture-resistant tropical type). The thickness of the insulation layer varies among cables of different specifications: 14 AWG is about 0.5mm, 12 AWG is about 0.6mm, 10 AWG is about 0.7mm, and 8 AWG is about 0.8mm. This thickness design can provide reliable insulation protection for the conductor and prevent electric leakage accidents.
The withstand voltage strength of the insulation layer is not less than 10kV/mm, which can ensure good insulation performance when used under the rated voltage of 600V. Its temperature resistance range is -15°C to 60°C, and within this temperature range, the insulation layer will not crack or harden and can maintain stable performance.
In addition, the insulation layer also has certain flame retardant properties. When tested in accordance with GB/T 18380.1-2008, its flame retardant grade reaches FV-0, that is, during vertical combustion, the burning time of the sample does not exceed 10 seconds, and there are no drips to ignite the absorbent cotton below.
  1. Overall Parameters

The overall diameter of the cable (including the insulation layer) varies by specification: 14 AWG is about 2.63mm, 12 AWG is about 3.25mm, 10 AWG is about 4.0mm, and 8 AWG is about 4.86mm. The overall diameter is moderate, which is convenient for operations such as threading through pipes and embedding in walls in House Wiring.
In terms of weight per kilometer, 14 AWG is about 15kg, 12 AWG is about 24kg, 10 AWG is about 38kg, and 8 AWG is about 61kg. The light weight makes transportation and installation convenient.
Current-carrying capacity is an important parameter of the cable. Under the conditions of an ambient temperature of 30°C and aerial laying, the current-carrying capacity of 14 AWG is about 15A, 12 AWG is about 20A, 10 AWG is about 30A, and 8 AWG is about 40A; under the conditions of underground laying and a soil temperature of 25°C, the current-carrying capacity of 14 AWG is about 18A, 12 AWG is about 25A, 10 AWG is about 35A, and 8 AWG is about 45A.
(II) Characteristic Applications
  1. Home Lighting Circuits

The 14 AWG PVC insulated THW cable is very suitable for home lighting circuits. The power of lighting fixtures in homes is usually small, and the total power of each lighting circuit generally does not exceed 300W. Calculated according to a voltage of 220V, the current is about 1.36A, which is much less than the 15A current-carrying capacity of the 14 AWG Cable.
In lighting circuits, cables need to pass through conduits in ceilings and walls. The 14 AWG cable has good Flexibility and a small diameter, which can easily pass through narrow conduits, and the insulation layer is not easy to be damaged during bending.   1. Ordinary Socket Circuits

The 12 AWG Cable is suitable for ordinary socket circuits. The appliances connected to ordinary sockets are mostly medium-power ones, such as TVs, computers, rice cookers, etc. The rated current of a single socket is usually 10A, and a circuit generally connects multiple sockets with a total current not exceeding 20A, which exactly matches the current-carrying capacity of the 12 AWG cable.
Using this cable in ordinary socket circuits in kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms and other areas can meet daily electricity needs. A 1-horsepower air conditioner has a power of about 735W, and a 3-horsepower air conditioner has a power of about 2205W. The conductor is made of high-purity electrolytic copper, which has been processed by electrolytic refining to remove impurities, with a purity of more than 99.9%. This PVC material has good water resistance, and will not swell or crack in humid environments, and can maintain stable insulation performance. At the same time, it also has certain oil resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, which can resist the erosion of common oil stains, detergents and other substances in the home.
  1. Style Design

(IV) Production Process
  1. Copper Wire Stranding Process

First, conduct quality inspection on the copper wire to ensure that the diameter, purity, mechanical properties, etc. of the copper wire meet the requirements. Then, put 7 copper wires into the pay-off rack of the stranding machine and strand them according to the set stranding pitch and direction. The stranding pitch varies according to the cable specification: 14 AWG is about 16mm, 12 AWG is about 20mm, 10 AWG is about 25mm, and 8 AWG is about 32mm.
During the stranding process, the tension control system is used to ensure uniform tension of each copper wire, avoiding loosening or excessive stretching of the copper wire. The Stranded Conductor needs to undergo appearance inspection to ensure that it has good roundness, no broken wires, no bulges and other defects. At the same time, the DC resistance test is performed on the conductor to ensure that its conductivity meets the standard.
  1. Insulation Layer Extrusion Process

The insulation layer is made by extrusion molding process. First, dry the PVC raw material to remove moisture in the raw material to prevent bubbles during extrusion. The dried PVC raw material is added to the hopper of the extruder, and after being heated, melted and plasticized in the extruder, it is evenly extruded and coated on the surface of the conductor through a mold.
The extrusion temperature is set according to the characteristics of the PVC material, generally between 160-180°C. The extrusion speed is matched with the traction speed to ensure uniform thickness of the insulation layer. The extruded cable enters the cooling water tank for cooling to quickly solidify and form the insulation layer.
After cooling, the cable needs to undergo insulation layer thickness measurement, appearance inspection and voltage resistance test. The thickness of the insulation layer must meet the design requirements, with a deviation not exceeding ±0.1mm; the appearance should be smooth and flat, without bubbles, cracks and other defects; the voltage resistance test is carried out at 1500V for 1 minute without breakdown.
  1. Finished Product Inspection Process

Finished product inspection includes a number of items. Appearance inspection: check whether the color of the cable is uniform, whether the surface is smooth, and whether there are damages, deformations and other defects. Dimensional inspection: measure the overall diameter of the cable, the thickness of the insulation layer, the diameter of the conductor, etc., to ensure they are within the standard range.
Electrical performance inspection: in addition to conductor DC resistance and insulation voltage resistance tests, insulation resistance test is also required. Under 500V DC voltage, the insulation resistance should be not less than 100MΩ·km. Mechanical performance inspection: conduct a tensile test to test the tensile strength and elongation at break of the insulation layer, with the tensile strength not less than 12MPa and the elongation at break not less than 150%.
Flame retardant performance inspection: conduct flame retardant tests in accordance with relevant standards to ensure that the cable meets the specified flame retardant grade. Only cables that pass all inspection items can be judged as qualified products and allowed to leave the factory.

II. From the Perspective of General Product Information

(I) Packaging
  1. Packaging Materials

For cables with lengths of 100 meters and 200 meters, plastic reels are used for packaging. The plastic reels are injection-molded with high-strength polyethylene material, which has the characteristics of compression resistance, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, etc., and can protect the cables from damage during transportation and storage. The diameter of the reel varies according to the length and specification of the cable. The diameter of the 100-meter reel is about 400mm, and that of the 200-meter reel is about 500mm.
Cables with a length of 500 meters are packaged with wooden reels. The wooden reels are made of high-quality pine, which has been dried and anti-corrosion treated, with high strength and good stability. Both sides of the reel are equipped with metal flanges for easy handling and fixing.
Whether it is a plastic reel or a wooden reel, after the cable is wound, the reel and the cable will be wrapped with a plastic film as a whole. The thickness of the plastic film is not less than 0.05mm, which plays a role in moisture-proof and dust-proof. Outside the plastic film, a paper protective cover is put on, which is printed with product information and warning signs.
  1. Packaging Methods

First, wind the cable neatly on the reel, maintaining appropriate tension during winding to avoid loosening or excessive stretching of the cable. After winding, fix the end of the cable on the reel with tape to prevent the cable from loosening.
Then, wrap the reel and cable tightly with plastic film to ensure no gaps. For wooden reels, foam buffer materials are added to their edges and corners to reduce collision damage during transportation.
Finally, paste a label on the outside of the package, which indicates the product name, specification (AWG), length, production date, production batch number, implementation standard, manufacturer's name, address, contact information, etc. The label is printed with wear-resistant and water-resistant ink to ensure clarity and durability.
  1. Packaging Labels

In addition to basic product information, the packaging label also marks transportation and storage precautions, such as "handle with care", "moisture-proof and sun-proof", "keep away from fire sources", etc. For exported products, English labels and relevant certification marks, such as UL certification and CE certification, will be added.
The label is prominently placed, usually on the side of the reel and the front of the protective cover, for easy identification and viewing.
(II) Transportation
  1. Transportation Methods

Choose an appropriate transportation method according to the transportation distance and quantity. For domestic short-distance transportation (within 500 kilometers), road transportation is adopted, using van trucks. The van truck has good sealing performance, which can effectively protect the cable from the external environment, and the transportation is flexible and fast.
For long-distance transportation or large quantities of goods, railway transportation is used. Railway transportation has large capacity, low cost and good stability, and is suitable for long-distance transportation. During transportation, the cable reels are fixed on the cargo space of the railway freight car to prevent the reels from moving and colliding.
Exported products are mainly transported by sea, and the cables are loaded into containers. 20-foot or 40-foot containers are selected according to the quantity of goods. Although sea transportation takes a long time, it has large capacity and low cost, which can meet the needs of large-scale exports. When loading the container, reasonably arrange the placement of the reels to ensure that the goods are stable.
  1. Transportation Precautions

During transportation, avoid severe impact, extrusion and exposure to the sun on the cable. When loading goods, the reels should be placed neatly, and avoid stacking too high to prevent the bottom reels from being crushed. For wooden reels, pay attention to protecting the edges and flanges to avoid collision and deformation.
Take moisture-proof measures, especially when transporting in the rainy season or humid environment, to ensure that the packaging is intact and prevent the cable from getting damp. Avoid the cable being exposed to the sun for a long time to prevent aging and deterioration of the insulation layer.
Transport vehicles or ships should be kept clean, dry and free of corrosive substances. During transportation, regularly check the packaging of the cable, and handle it in time if damage is found. Exported products must comply with international trade transportation regulations and customs requirements to ensure smooth customs clearance.
(III) Shipping
  1. Shipping Process

After the customer places an order, the sales department will transmit the order information to the production department and the warehouse department. The production department organizes production according to the order requirements to ensure timely completion. After receiving the warehousing notice from the production department, the warehouse department inspects the products and goes through the warehousing procedures after passing the inspection.
The warehouse department prepares goods according to the order, checks the preparation process, it carefully checks the specifications, length, quantity and other information of the products to ensure consistency with the order. After the preparation is completed, the logistics department is notified to arrange transport vehicles, and detailed delivery information is provided, such as delivery address, contact person, contact information, etc.
The logistics department coordinates with the warehouse department on the delivery time. When the goods are delivered, both parties jointly count and inspect the goods, and sign for handover after confirmation. After the goods are loaded into the transport vehicle, they are fixed firmly, and the delivery procedures are handled.
After shipment, the sales department promptly informs the customer of the shipment information, including the mode of transportation, license plate number, waybill number, estimated arrival time, etc., to facilitate the customer to track the goods.
  1. Shipping Time

For products in stock, after the customer places an order and pays the payment, the goods will be shipped within 1-3 working days. For products that need to be customized in length or have special requirements, the production cycle is 5-7 working days, and they will be shipped in time after completion.
In case of special circumstances (such as raw material shortage, equipment failure, etc.) leading to delayed shipment, the sales department will notify the customer in advance, explain the reasons and negotiate solutions.
(IV) Samples
  1. Provision of Samples
