Common Specifications and Models of BV Wires

BV wires are usually classified by the cross-sectional area of the metal conductor in the center of the insulation layer, and the common specifications include: 0.2 mm², 0.3 mm², 0.4 mm², 0.5 mm², 0.75 mm², 1 mm², 1.5 mm², 2.5 mm², 4 mm², 6 mm², 10 mm², 16 mm², 25 mm², 35 mm², 50 mm², 70 mm², 95 mm², 120 mm², 150 mm², 185 mm², and 240 mm².


Besides, according to different usage requirements, there are also flame-retardant type ZR-BV and fire-resistant type NH-BV. The ZR-BV can be further divided into A, B, C, and D flame-retardant levels.

Uses of BV Wires

BV wire, with a rated voltage of 450/750V, is applicable to cables and wires used in power devices, daily electrical appliances, instruments, and telecommunications equipment. Specifically:


  • Specifications like 0.2 to 0.5 mm² are applicable to small-power electrical appliances or special devices with low current requirements.

  • The 0.75 mm² and 1 mm² are often used for the connection of small-power lighting fixtures, such as some decorative ambient lights.

  • The 1.5 mm² is commonly used in home lighting circuits.

  • The 2.5 mm² is suitable for general socket circuits to supply power to household appliances such as TVs, washing machines, and refrigerators.

  • The 4 mm² is used for high-power household appliances in homes, like air conditioners, electric water heaters, etc.

  • Specifications above 6 mm², such as 10 mm², 16 mm², etc., are usually used in the main power supply lines of commercial or industrial buildings, or for the power connection of large industrial equipment.
