Thw 500mcm copper cable is a high-capacity power transmission cable specially designed for industrial power distribution scenarios. Its conductor cross-sectional area reaches 500mcm (about 253mm²), with a rated voltage of 600V, and adopts a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation layer. It has excellent current-carrying capacity, mechanical strength and environmental resistance, and is widely used in main power distribution lines in large industrial plants, power stations, metallurgical enterprises and other places, providing stable power support for high-power equipment clusters.​ The conductor part is stranded by multiple strands of high-purity electrolytic copper wires, with a single wire diameter of about 2.6mm and a total of 37 strands. The stranding pitch is strictly controlled within 12-16 times the outer diameter of the conductor. This multi-strand stranded structure not only endows the cable with good flexibility (minimum bending radius is 8 times the outer diameter of the cable), facilitating laying in complex plant structures, but also improves heat dissipation efficiency by increasing the conductor surface area, enabling it to maintain stable performance in high-temperature environments. The conductor purity is ≥99.95%, and the conductivity reaches 101% IACS. At an ambient temperature of 30℃, the continuous current-carrying capacity can reach 430A, and the short-term overload (1 hour) current-carrying capacity can be increased to 530A, which is sufficient to meet the instantaneous starting current requirements of large transformers, high-voltage motors and other equipment.​ The insulation layer is made of PVC material with a temperature resistance level of 90℃, with a uniform thickness of not less than 1.8mm. After special formula improvement, it has excellent oil resistance and chemical stability. The volume resistivity of the insulation layer is ≥1×10¹⁴Ω·cm, and it passes the 2500V/5min AC voltage withstand test without breakdown, which can effectively block the risk of phase-to-phase short circuit. At the same time, its flame retardant performance meets the UL 94 V-2 standard, which can self-extinguish within 30 seconds after the open flame is removed, and the smoke density rating (SDR) is ≤75, reducing the toxic hazard in case of fire. The surface of the insulation layer is matte treated to reduce scratch damage during laying, and is printed with clear specification marks (500mcm, 600V, Thw type) and meter marks, facilitating length measurement during construction.​ The overall mechanical performance of the cable is excellent, with a tensile strength of ≥16MPa and an elongation at break of ≥120%, which can withstand common mechanical vibration and tensile stress in industrial environments. Its weather resistance has passed strict tests, maintaining stable performance in temperature cycles from -40℃ to 90℃, and passing 1000-hour salt spray test without obvious corrosion, which can adapt to coastal industrial areas or high-humidity environments. In addition, the cable also has anti-ultraviolet performance. After 1000 hours of exposure to sunlight, the aging degree of the insulation layer does not exceed 10%, which is suitable for outdoor distribution bridge installation.​ In industrial power distribution systems, the cable is mainly used in the following scenarios: first, as the main line from the plant's main distribution room to the workshop's distribution cabinet, connecting the low-voltage side of the 10kV/0.4kV transformer with the low-voltage distribution cabinet, undertaking the power distribution of the entire workshop; second, in metallurgical enterprises, providing special power supply lines for high-capacity equipment such as electric arc furnaces and rolling mills, withstanding the inrush current when the equipment starts; third, in the UPS system of data centers, as the transmission line of backup power supply, ensuring seamless switching in case of power failure. Its large cross-sectional characteristic is especially suitable for long-distance power transmission (single section laying length can reach 500 meters), which can effectively reduce line loss. The line resistance is ≤0.068Ω/km, and the power loss per kilometer does not exceed 12kW when running at full load.​ The production process strictly follows the ASTM B33 standard. The conductor stranding adopts multi-head synchronous pay-off technology to ensure uniform stress on each strand of copper wire; the insulation extrusion adopts a three-layer co-extrusion process, with the inner layer being a semi-conductive shielding layer, the middle layer being an insulation layer, and the outer layer being an insulation shielding layer. The three layers are closely attached without bubbles, improving the overall insulation reliability. Each batch of cables has undergone more than 20 tests such as conductor resistance, insulation resistance, and partial discharge (≤10pC), with a complete quality traceability report, meeting international standards such as UL 44 and NFPA 70, and having a service life of more than 20 years.
